Young Healthwatch

Young Healthwatch volunteers decided to investigate how young people feel about their own sense of self-worth, and how that impacts on their mental health and wellbeing. They called the project #RealMe.
They are asking the city’s key decision makers (and all adults working with young people) to work with young people to understand the stresses and pressures that they experience.
The #RealMe report includes five self-worth principles developed by Young Healthwatch.

#SpeakUp small grants scheme

We’ve published 11 reports of engagement carried out by community groups and funded by our small grants scheme, #SpeakUp. The scheme was designed to empower people and communities to ask questions about local health and care services. It also aimed to raise aspirations about involvement in local conversations. The grants have enabled recipients to either have deeper conversations about health and social care or to speak to new people. In some cases there has been a mixture of both these things.
We’ve heard from a diverse range of people about the issues that matter most to them. Furthermore, the response they’ve received from local providers and commissioners has been enthusiastic. We’ll continue to track the impact of these reports throughout the year and will be inviting applications our second round of #SpeakUp funding very soon!
